Our Commitment to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion

Updated October 2022

Policy Statement

Our ambition is that the London Sinfonietta fully reflects the diversity of the UK population and becomes an ever more inclusive, welcoming and safe organisation – providing ways for our workforce, artists and audiences to experience new music, and become participants in it, whatever their background, experience or where they live.

The London Sinfonietta has always sought to challenge the musical status quo and champion change. We recognise that in order to continue to be at the forefront of contemporary culture we must ensure that our work is open to all and continues to reflect the society we live in. We will continue to commission and perform new music by living composers such that our work reflects contemporary society, and we will continue to champion how composers and musicians can work with the community in order to better engage directly with new audiences. We will invest in digital content so that our work is more accessible to people who can’t attend our live concerts.

As an organisation that exists to shape, reflect and respond to the society in which we live, we want to draw board members, employees, creatives, freelancers and volunteers who represent a wide range of different backgrounds and experiences to work with London Sinfonietta. New ideas and perspectives will come from all parts of the organisation, and we will promote an open, collaborative and inclusive workplace.

While we have already begun to make changes across the organisation, we acknowledge we still have a long way to go.  We are investing in making change happen and have plans for the coming months and years.  More details of where we are now, and what changes we are planning can be found using the links below.
