A celebration of contemporary musical life in Poland
Southbank Centre's Queen Elizabeth Hall, London
The London Sinfonietta together with the International Centre for Contemporary Music celebrates contemporary musical life in Poland. Two new pieces of Polish music are heard in tonight’s concert: the reorchestrated version of Wojciech Błażejczyk’s Concerto for Electric Guitar and String Orchestra (originally written in 2016) and now scored with the addition of percussion and live electronics; and Paweł Mykietyn’s playful concerto for chamber orchestra Prank. Both are ICCM commissions receiving their world premiere.

Paweł Mykietyn's music is vivid, at times even aggressive in nature, and possesses a clear structure... Mykietyn's music brings out a great deal of emotion. Culture.pl
Wojciech Błażejczyk’s music feeds on scientific theories, internet streams and civilisation waves or scrap. It sometimes looks like a nerd’s diary. Full of different colours and fonts, notes, charts, exclamations and underlined words. This diary is the composer’s reaction to what surrounds him every day Jan Topolski
