CONNECT: THE AUDIENCE AS ARTIST

Workshop 1

London

Book

Want to be part of a world premiere?

We’re looking for curious people to help us develop a new piece of music by British composer Christian Mason: In the Midst of the Sonorous Islands.

This work has been commissioned for CONNECT, a pan-European project that’s redefining the relationship between audience and artist. Christian hopes to immerse his audience in a range of metallic and blown sounds, and this workshop is his first opportunity to try out ideas. It will last about two hours and doesn’t require any musical skills. We’ll use triangles, tin foil, baoding balls and bottles to mirror the percussion instruments played by the professional London Sinfonietta musicians – every person contributing a vital element of the sound world on stage.

Subsequently, you will have the chance to perform in the world premiere as part of London Sinfonietta’s CONNECT concert on Saturday 22 October 2016 at St John’s Smith Square.

This workshop will be filmed.

CONNECT is an initiative generously supported by ART MENTOR FOUNDATION LUCERNE in collaboration with London Sinfonietta, Ensemble Modern, Asko|Schönberg and Remix Ensemble Casa da Música.
