Impact

One of the world’s leading contemporary music ensembles, the London Sinfonietta is a registered charity (no. 255095) and as such must run ongoing fundraising campaigns to find the necessary funds to survive.

Box Office income accounts for only around a third of our annual income; a third is our valued contribution from Arts Council England as one of their National Portfolio Organisations; meaning the final third must be raised through the generous support of many individuals, trusts, foundations, other grant-making bodies and corporate partners.

The London Sinfonietta is one of the UK’s most distinctive, pioneering and adventurous music organisations with a renowned world-wide reputation and critical recognition.  We have earned this position over nearly 50 years as we championed some of the most finely crafted, progressive, avant-garde, experimental ensemble and electronic music of the latter 20th and 21st centuries.

As we approach our 50th anniversary, we continue to make a significant impact on the arts in the UK. Our ambition is to champion contemporary classical music in the widest sense. We aim to give voice to composers, musicians and artists, audiences, communities, and schools. So much of classical music is the performance of music composed a hundred or more years ago. An art form is not sustainable if it is not constantly refreshed and the London Sinfonietta plays a vital role at the creative cutting edge of classical music.

We are enormously grateful for all of the support we receive from individuals, statutory bodies, trusts, foundations and businesses. With your help, we can continue to lead the way, sparking the greatest innovations in music and nurturing the best musical talent.
