Southbank Centre's Queen Elizabeth Hall, London

As part of an evening of solos, duos and ensemble repertoire, hear Sir Harrison Birtwistle's Five Lessons in a Frame which ‘frames’ the duets that he penned for London Sinfonietta musicians for the occasion of his 80th birthday concert. Alongside the iconic British composer's duo collection will be the world premiere of Edward Nesbit's work for viola and ensemble with London Sinfonietta Principal viola Paul Silverthorne. This commission marks Edward Nesbit's first Southbank Centre premiere as part of our Writing the Future scheme.

Programme includes:

Cheryl Frances-Hoad Bouleumeta
Sir Harrison Birtwistle Five Lessons in a Frame
Chaya Czernowin Lovesong
Edward Nesbit New work for viola & ensemble (world premiere)

Geoffrey Paterson conductor
Mark van de Wiel clarinet
