MAKE, DO AND BEND

Ideas Lab

London

Book

The London Sinfonietta is partnering with the hub to produce Make, Do and Bend, a project bringing together artists, technologists, producers and audiences to explore how digital technology can open up new forms of interaction.

We want to ask the big questions:

- How can emerging technologies support and inform composition and performance?
- How can meaningful work be developed, online and in a live context?
- How can the opportunities for online artist/audience interaction shape music creation?
- What does an online ‘performance’ look like?

On Tuesday 7 June an Ideas Lab designed for a carefully curated group of 20 musicians, composers, developers, sound designers and coders will borrow from hack culture: ideas will be shared, teams will form around them, and these ideas will be developed into (paper) prototypes – all over the course of an intensive 12 hours of sharing, making and testing.

Based on their end of lab ‘pitches’, a panel of judges will select the two or three teams whose ideas they think have the most potential, both in the context of the London Sinfonietta and more generally. These teams will receive a small bursary to help them develop their ideas ahead of sharing them at a One-Dayer conference on Thursday 14 July.
