Sonic Explorations, a cutting edge mini-festival exploring the vast and compelling world of electroacoustic music curated by leading composer Jonathan Harvey took place at Kings Place on 1 – 3 October 2009.
Showcasing a new perspective on sound, audiences were treated to concerts featuring work from composers past and present. The vivid music from some of the 20th century’s most influential composers took centre stage in 20th Century Classics 1 & 2; Letters from the Americas presented new music from across the Atlantic; whilst Introducing IRCAM, the iconic music centre in Paris that explores the science of music, offered the timeless world of Jonathan Harvey’s evocative tape piece Mortuous Plango, Vivos Voco.
Jonathan Harvey and Robert Worby have also written some revealing insights into the festival, which can be found below.
