Resident Orchestra at Southbank Centre

The London Sinfonietta is one of four resident orchestras at London's Southbank Centre, one of the world's leading arts centres. During the 2008-2009 season it will give nine performances in the Queen Elizabeth Hall. Tickets for these concerts range from £9 - £22, and many are broadcast on BBC Radio 3.

The residency is an important platform for the ensemble in its mission to place contemporary music at the heart of contemporary culture. The 2008-2009 season will include important world and UK premieres by Thomas Larcher (30 September 2008), Gerard Grisey (14 October 2008), Karlheinz Stockhausen (8 November 2008) and John Woolrich (28 January 2009). Other events include a concert celebrating the ensemble's 40th anniversary (2 December 2008), an Elliott Carter portrait (28 January 2009), Heiner Goebbels' phenomenal Songs of Wars I Have Seen as part of Ether 09 (24 April 2009) and the London premiere of Harrison Birtwistle's latest music theatre works.
