For the 2010 Adelaide Festival, the London Sinfonietta will perform two very special concerts including works specially commissioned by the Adelaide Festival.

Southbank Centre have commissioned Anna Meredith and internationally renowned Beatbox Artist Shlomo to write a new piece for Beatbox and Orchestra. The ensemble is made up of players from Southbank Centre's 4 resident orchestras: London Sinfonietta, London Philharmonic Orchestra, Philharmonia Orchestra, Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment.

One of Britain’s most gifted composers and conductors, Benjamin has enjoyed an exceptionally close relationship with the London Sinfonietta for nearly 30 years. It was one of the first ensembles to champion his delicate, luminescent music and has continued to do so with numerous performances of his work. This month featuring Sinfonietta Shorts, Blank Canvas is a bi-monthly ‘club’ night reputed for its eclectic contemporary classical and experimental music programming, which pays no heed to classical music convention.

Inspired by artefacts found on ancient archeological sites, Richard Barrett’s Mesopotamia has been commissioned by the London Sinfonietta with generous support from the London Sinfonietta Commissioning Circle. Jonathan Harvey’s Bhakti is a reflective, spiritual exploration of Sanskrit hymns, some of the world’s oldest religious texts.

Minimalist composer Steve Reich and Synergy Vocals join the London Sinfonietta for the iconic, hour-long Music for 18 Musicians.
