• London Sinfonietta has won the Royal Philharmonic Society Ensemble Award as a recognition of all its work throughout 2009, which included several landmark performances including giving the London premiere of George Benjamin's chamber opera Into the Little Hill with The Opera Group, a revival of Heiner Goebbels' Songs of Wars I have seen with the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment and the ensemble's own Sonic Explorations festival at Kings Place.

  • The London Sinfonietta Collective have named their concert at Southbank Centre's Queen Elizabeth Hall on 3 June Shadoworks.

    As well as a world premiere of Larry Goves' latest piece, and a UK premiere of Dai Fujikura's Secret Forest, the concert will feature music by Ligeti, Clementi and Abrahamsen, and there will be dance, film and interactive design installations which take over the QEH foyer spaces between the music on stage.

  • Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 January saw the launch of the KX Collective- a group of young people from the Islington and Camden areas who are working with the London Sinfonietta throughout the season in a series of creative workshops and events.   • In advance of the Sonic Explorations Festival which takes place on 1-3 October at Kings Place, the London Sinfonietta have released two new Podcasts to help you discover more about electroacoustic music.

    In Podcast 2, Jonathan Harvey talks to Sara Mohr-Pietsch about the many different kinds of electroacoustic music which will be performed at the festival, as well as the composers, the ideas and concepts behind the music and IRCAM, the iconic music centre in Paris.

  • The London Sinfonietta launches a new series of podcasts with an exclusive interview with Sir Harrison Birtwistle about his work, influences, and three of his early pieces which are to be performed by the London Sinfonietta at the BBC Proms on 4th August.
