An excerpt from Luke Bedford's En Voit Tout En Aventure, which features on the 3rd CD in the London Sinfonietta's Jerwood Series.
The piece consists of six movements, each a setting of medieval French or Italian songs which, Luke says, have been "shamelessly torn from their original musical context and treated purely as texts. I was attracted to them by two things. Firstly, by the sheer strangeness of the words and their distance from us. Secondly, despite this, I also enjoyed the relevance of what the texts say about music."
En Voit Tout En Aventure was written as a result of Luke Bedford's participation in the London Sinfonietta's Blue Touch Paper initiative, generously funded by the Calouste Gulbenkian foundation, PRS Foundation and the Michael Vyner Trust.
This world premiere performance was recorded live on 30 May 2006 at Southbank Centre's Queen Elizabeth Hall.
