London Sinfonietta
'The world's finest contemporary music ensemble'
BBC Music Magazine 2006
The new site uses cascading style sheets (CSS). This means that styles for the whole site can be controlled with just one central change.
For example, we can change the colours of the links and titles each year as well as the header strip to fit in with our season brochure!
However, in order for this to work, formatting must be done through using CSS tags, rather than selecting colours/bold etc as we've done before.
Have a look at the list in text/CSS styles on the menu above.
The title of each page is TitleRuler
large pink font with a pink underline rule (which doesn't show up in Dreamweaver) - used for page titles and the links sections only
Title is pink and bold - used for titles of sections on pages
Subtitle is grey and bold - used for subtitles, or to provide contrast with Title
Setcolour1 is orange, non bold - mainly used in interviews and in discography to provide visual contrast
Setcolour2 is deep red, non bold - mainly used in interviews and in discography to provide visual contrast
Links are blue and bold, rollover to pink and bold. The link format sets automatically when you enter the link address.
is bold and reduced size with a pink line above- the text used to give the page pathway at the bottom of each page.
Normal text is set to CSS style = none.
PhotoFloatLeft, PhotoFloatRight: Images can be set to left or right align with text flowing round them (although this isn't working hugely well yet).
TableLayout is used in the discography and commissions list sections.
Italics can be added as before using the I button on the properties toolbar.
Site structure
The site has been designed to reduce the number of pages, and uneditable sprawl of the old version. Where possible try not to add pages unless they are part of the design. If new sections are needed, please discuss first!
A major difference to the old site is that we no longer assume that ALL content should be available for ever, or that all events are of equal importance. We aim to provide a selective snapshot of current LS work, edited and revised once a year.
