Sonic Explorations 2 moves its focus to the cutting-edge music of South America and Britain. The Main Event showcases Mexico’s electroacoustic tradition, marked by the foundation of the National Conservatory of Music’s Electronic Music Lab in 1970, and whose legacy has been important to the careers of the composers performed tonight, Rodrigo Sigal and Javier Alvarez. Tim Souster was one of Britain’s most important electroacoustic composers, whose music is performed tonight alongside some of the best British composers exploring and researching sound and technology.

And don’t forget to top and tail your evening with our free Take Note: Pre-concert event at 7.00pm as Robert Worby is joined by Peter Britton - who along with Tim Souster founded the live electronics ensemble Intermodulation - and the composer Duncan MacLeod for a focus on the early days of electroacoustics in Britain and how the music has evolved into the current scene. Our second free Late Lounge is at 10.00pm where you can relax on beanbags and with your drinks to music from some of the composers featured in Sonic Explorations.
