Pedro Amaral O Sonho world premiere
Join London Sinfonietta as we take you on a journey through the life of the fated biblical seductress Salome
The world premiere of a new chamber opera from Portuguese composer Pedro Amaral, O Sonho is the powerful musical adaptation of an unfinished play from Fernando Pessoa, a towering figure in 20th century Portuguese literature.
Pedro Amaral is influenced by the great Stockhausen, Peter Eötvös and his fellow IRCAM musicians. With sparse instrumentation from an ensemble of just 17 musicians and 6 singers, O Sonho’s lush, sensuous score will draw you into Salome’s dangerous dream world.
Performed at the intimate Robin Howard Dance Theatre, this is your chance to catch London Sinfonietta up close in a classic tale of tragedy, passion and desire.
