Pedro Amaral O Sonho
London Sinfonietta take Lisbon's opera-goers on a journey through the life of the fated biblical seductress Salome.
The second ever performance of a new chamber opera from Portuguese composer Pedro Amaral, O Sonho is the powerful musical adaptation of an unfinished play from Fernando Pessoa, a towering figure in 20th century Portuguese literature.
Pedro Amaral is influenced by the great Stockhausen, Peter Eötvös and his fellow IRCAM musicians. With sparse instrumentation from an ensemble of just 17 musicians and 6 singers, O Sonho’s lush, sensuous score will draw the sudience into Salome’s dangerous dream world.
