London Sinfonietta’s Pavilions: Experience the finest new music from British composers

The London Sinfonietta takes you on a journey through new British music from the finest living composers. As part of Southbank Centre’s celebrations of the Festival of Britain, the London Sinfonietta presents two concerts celebrating musicians including Colin Matthews, Bryn Harrison and Martin Suckling.

Taking centre stage in the 7.30pm Main Event is Night Rides* by Colin Matthews, a rhythmic and fast-moving commission fromthe London Sinfonietta, inspired by sunset. Also featured is Laurence Crane, whose sound world is renowned for its beauty, emotion and originality, and Bryn Harrison’s Six Symmetries which was inspired by the work of artist Bridget Riley. Completing the programme will be works by Martin Suckling, Phillip Cashian and Christopher Fox.

The 6.30pm Pre-Concert Performance showcases new Sinfonietta Shorts from musicians of Writing the Future, the scheme giving composers the chance to write new music in close collaboration with the London Sinfonietta’s players.
