Thomas Adès Court Studies from The Tempest
The London Sinfonietta presents a cross-section of composers working in the UK today at their second concert at the St Magnus International Festival.
The grotesque dark comedy and knockabout fun of Mr Punch, the Commedia dell’Arte and Pinball Arcades combines with music drawn from a contemporary operatic interpretation of Shakespeare’s The Tempest, to give this concert a theatrical twist.
Interspersed amidst the drama are three intriguing views on the music of Henry Purcell from Oliver Knussen, Colin Matthews and George Benjamin.
The London Sinfonietta will be performing a selection of these works at Kings Place on Friday 1 July 2011, following its residency at the St Magnus International Festival. Click here for more details.
