Hear and Now Studio Concert

Michael Zev Gordon The Impermanence of Things (London Sinfonietta commission: world premiere)

James Saunders either/or (London Sinfonietta Blue Touch Paper commission: world premiere)
plus music by contemporary composers celebrating Henry Purcell
including George Benjamin, Elliott Carter, Oliver Knussen, Steve Martland and Colin Matthews.

At the heart of this concert are two new pieces commissioned by the London Sinfonietta. James Saunders new work is the latest result of the ensemble’s Blue Touch Paper scheme, whilst the eclectic Michael Zev Gordon has produced a concertante work for pianist Huw Watkins and ensemble in response to his commission. A garland of works that give a fresh, contemporary perspective to the inspirational voice of Purcell finish the programme.
