Niccolò Castiglioni Capriccio
In turns whimsically humorous and hauntingly beautiful, Castiglioni’s compositions make up some of the most distinctive and brilliantly inventive music of the last century. A virtuosic pianist and contemporary of Berio and Nono, he has been called the “minimalist Messiaen” and was inspired as much by the writings of Lewis Carroll as the winter landscape of the Dolomite mountains.
Oliver Knussen leads the ensemble in this exploration of Castiglioni’s diverse repertoire alongside Anderson’s Darwin-inspired work.
