The Blue Touch Paper preview event showcases the culmination of a year-long collaboration between 3 groups of composers and multi-disciplinary artists. Featuring actors, performance poets, puppeteers and London Sinfonietta principal players, these three works, each lasting approximately 15-20 minutes, portray wide ranging themes.
- 100 Combat Troupes: Steve Potter and Kélina Gotman's music-theatre piece stages the urgency and ambivalence of dreaming other possible worlds, from the technicolor fantasies of Disney to the anarchist trenches.
-Half of Me: Elspeth Brooke, Seonaid Goody and Anna Jones' re-imagining of the Greek myth of Persephone and Demeter, which experiments with the creation of highly varied musical, sound and visual worlds to tell this epic tale by way of an original story through the arts of puppetry, live music and electronics.
-They are not like us (working title): Philip Venables and Steven J Fowler's exploration of boxing, a form of violence sanctioned by society, through the use of music and poetry.
The Blue Touch Paper programme aims to nurture and promote the next generation of composers and inter-disciplinary collaborators, providing participants with the context and space to instigate and develop new multi-disciplinary work and providing a national platform for its presentation.
