Pioneers: making new music happen
Since 1968, the London Sinfonietta has been committed to placing new music at the very heart of contemporary culture. The London Sinfonietta champions some of today’s finest composers, encourages young composers to develop their work in extraordinary new directions and paves the way for the some of the most inspiring performances for audiences the world over. It has commissioned or premiered over 250 works, ranging from Luciano Berio, Harrison Birtwistle and Steve Reich to the emerging composers involved in its Blue Touch Paper project.
The greatest discoveries rely on the commitment, generosity and vision of a passionate group of supporters. Our imagination is unlimited, but our funds are not, and income generated by ticket sales can only cover a small percentage of the cost of putting on each of our concert performances. London Sinfonietta Pioneers play a crucial role in making new music happen. They provide invaluable support for brand new commissions, world premiere performances and ground-breaking projects. In return we provide our Pioneers with opportunities to form a close association with the ensemble and be part of the creative journey with us.
