Juliet Fraser was educated at the Purcell School as a first-study oboist and then at Cambridge University where she read Music and History of Art at Selwyn College and sang in Clare College Choir. Based in London, Juliet is much in demand as a soloist and consort singer, specialising particularly in early and contemporary music. In 2002 she founded the acclaimed vocal ensemble EXAUDI, and has also sung regularly with the Monteverdi Choir, the BBC Singers, Polyphony, Tenebrae and Collegium Vocale Gent.
Juliet made her BBC Proms solo début in 2007 with Endymion, and returned the following year to perform with the Aurora Orchestra. A champion of new music, she has had works written for her by Michael Finnissy, Christopher Fox, Larry Goves, John Habron, Claudia Molitor, Gérard Pesson, Howard Skempton, Philip Venables and James Weeks. She appears regularly on BBC Radio 3 broadcasts, and has an extensive discography which ranges from Lassus to Lutyens.
Juliet gave the world premiere of Larry Goves' Springtime at the London Sinfonietta's 40th birthday concert in 2008. This performance was released on the final disc in the London Sinfonietta label's Jerwood series on 7 September 2009. Click here for details
