Edmund’s output has included works for art films, contemporary dancers, club dance-floors, and sound installations as well as the concert hall. Of his compositional approach he says ‘I aspire to create something I have never heard before; to explore the energy of sounds and invent original ways of combining them’. His first orchestral piece, Flicker, received praise for ‘the mid air ending [which] was, to quote a friend of mine, ‘just genius’’ (Musicalcriticism.com). He is currently studying for his PhD at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, focusing on distortion, analysing and manipulating complex sounds. His current work includes ensemble pieces related to his research and a commission for the Spitalfields Music Summer Festival 2011.

As a London Sinfonietta Writing the Future composer, Edmund worked with Paul Silverthorne, principal viola.
