Duncan’s musical interests are in perception and cognition, in particular spatial boundaries between audience and performer, which he explores in his work Ellipsis for the group Piano Circus. He is currently studying for his PhD, supervised by Michael Finnissy, at Trinity Laban Conservatoire, where he also teaches composition. Duncan’s works have been shortlisted by the Society for the Promotion of New Music and he was composer in residence at the Handel House Museum (2009-10). Duncan is also interested in presented contemporary music outside of the concert hall, and has explored this through cross-arts collaborations in dance, film and sound installations.

As a London Sinfonietta Writing the Future composer, Duncan worked with Enno Senft, principal double bass.
