Adès and Reich: London and Across the UK

Thomas Adès conducts a series of concerts across the UK

Join composer-conductor-pianist Thomas Adès and the London Sinfonietta for a UK tour of his acclaimed video-ballet In Seven Days plus performances of two hypnotic pieces from master minimalist Steve Reich: Tehillim (London) and Music for 18 Musicians (Glasgow, Birmingham).

In Seven Days is a collaboration with Isreali visual artist Tal Rosner charting the story of creation: seven days in which the world was made, told through a stunning score and soaring visuals.

In London (Friday 18 February 2011), the piece is paired with Reich's Tehillim: a joyful, rhythmic and pulsating setting of four psalms for female singers and ensemble. Extending his trademark minimalist techniques for this half-hour, text-based piece, Reich creates a soundworld that mixes hypnotic rhythms, glowing harmonies and African-inspired percussion. This is music to move you physically as well as emotionally!

The London Sinfonietta is also proud to be performing in two more of the UK's most important cities: Glasgow (Sunday 13 February 2011) and Birmingham (Friday 11 March 2011) where In Seven Days is paired with the iconic Music for 18 Musicians, a work ambitious in both scale and shimmering beauty.
